Machining of Worm Threads by Face-Type Tool
摘要
The manuscript presents the method of worm thread forming by a face-type tool—a face cutter head or a cup grinding wheel. When machining by assembled cutter heads, the method provides high efficiency due to relatively large dimensions and high rigidity of the tool. Implementation of the scheme at grinding provides versatility and possibility to use the same equipment when grinding teeth using its standard capabilities for coordination and accuracy of all movements. A mathematical model for calculating the geometry of threads and limitations on choosing the generating parameters are given; the naturally obtained curvature of the axial profile of threads is studied, and the possibilities of additional adjustment at machine-tool setting are presented. Examples of practical implementation of the method on common versatile equipment with program control are given.
