Transparency and Security in Tourism: Exploring the Potential of Blockchain Technology

摘要

This theoretical research addresses the current problem of the trust dilemma and presents a comprehensive approach to understanding the fundamental concepts of blockchain and the specific challenges in the context of tourism in the Caldas region (Colombia). To achieve this purpose A bibliometric and narrative analysis based on the scientific production from the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases was rigorously conducted. The bibliometric, descriptive, and structural analysis, using a corpus of 2,156 documents analyzed with the R program, allowed for the construction of a solid theoretical framework on the topic. Additionally, the network data-based mapping analysis, carried out with VOSviewer, enabled the structuring and visualization of key thematic relationships and emerging trends in the field, identifying research clusters and predominant lines of study. The scope of this exploratory study includes the identification and analysis of trends and patterns in the scientific literature on the implementation of Blockchain technology in the tourism industry. It is also shown the significant implications of blockchain technology for tourism include improving the tourist experience, facilitating fast and hassle-free transactions, and providing financial inclusion for the unbanked. In this article, a general blockchain model for the tourism industry will be presented, specifically designed to integrate with the sector in the region of Caldas (Colombia), emphasizing the urgency of understanding and evaluating the positive impacts. The General Objective is Analyze the potential of Blockchain technology to transform traditional business models and create new opportunities for social and sustainable innovation in the tourism industry.
