Film is a vital medium of communication that reflects society and helps its audience to comprehend the way its inhabitants operate. In Nigeria, the rate of violent attacks has been on the increase and has caused distress and restlessness, evidence of which are presented daily by the mass media. Using social representation theory and textual analysis, this chapter considers two Nollywood films, National Crisis and The Last Kidnap, in an examination of how Nigerian film productions have reflected the issue of violent attacks, and asks whether these films edify the Nigerian audience on how to make Nigerian society a safer environment. The chapter finds that the films depict various forms of violent attack and that the filmmakers have ensured the plots reflect actions that could be taken to mitigate the attacks.
