Introduction

This chapter introduces the theorists and perspectives covered in the book. It shows how the dialogues established in this book help us to explore current themes in the sociology of morality. This includes questions of interdisciplinarity, normativity in social moral theorising, rethinking the canon, the relationship between morality and power, and moral agency. This introduction thus sets out how the theorists covered are used as sounding boards for explorations of key themes and topics in social theorising about morality.
