Classification of Various Iris Patterns of Amphibians Using Geometric and Color Features

Animal biometric pattern is very much essential for individual identification. Nowadays as the Iris pattern of any individual animal is stable and unique in nature. Amphibians exhibit diverse color and geometrical iris patterns that are influenced by various genetic, ecological, evolutionary and environmental factors. This variation may serve important functions in crypsis and communication. A comparative study on different iris patterns of amphibian species is being analyzed in this paper with geometrical as well as color features. The variation of iris color in amphibian species is a topic of interest due to its potential role in camouflage, communication, and species identification. Understanding the iris color variation in amphibians is crucial for unraveling the evolutionary and ecological significance of this trait in the context of species adaptation and survival. The aim of this paper is to study different features of amphibians iris and recognize the species using the features that will be beneficial to biological ecology and nature preservation and also a source of identity for any individual amphibians. An amphibian eye with image acquisition followed by localization and segmentation of Iris is processed and lastly feature extraction is done based on different geometrical and color features.
