Learning from Research: The Civic Tech in Africa Evidence Map
摘要
This chapter reflects on the creation of the first Civic Tech in Africa Evidence Map, a collaborative effort between the Civic Tech Innovation Network and the South Africa Centre for Evidence (SACE). This map, a tool that systematically organises evidence (research) in a particular domain, characterises the size, nature, and scope of research on African civic tech. It shows how it can serve as an organised database and an important resource for civic tech innovators, researchers, academics, and the broader public. The chapter aims to discuss key findings from the research project and reflections from the project team. The Civic Tech in Africa Evidence Map will be presented as a useful case study that adopted a specific empirical approach. Reflections on the research and method limitations will also be presented. Commentary on the Civic Tech in Africa Evidence Map will be discussed alongside emerging policy trends in digital innovation, urban governance, and African service delivery challenges.
