摘要

The collapse of Sovietism in 1991 plunged the Cuban economy into an extremely serious crisis. Its magnitude, measured in particular by the fall in gross domestic product (GDP), is only historically comparable to the implications of the Great Depression of the 1930s (Graph 5.1)—even if the internal and external contexts were completely different, not to say diametrically opposed.
