Hydrogen Production Technologies: Valorization of Water Electrolysis Systems Based on Photovoltaic Energy
摘要
The fight against global warming is a goal shared by many countries, which are focusing on the development of hydrogen energy as an alternative, clean, and renewable energy resource. This chapter provides an overview of the different approaches to producing hydrogen from renewable and non-renewable resources. Nevertheless, the production of hydrogen from fossil fuels has harmful consequences for the environment and human health. With this in mind, everyone is turning to the greening of hydrogen production, prioritizing production from affordable, clean, and abundant resources. Today, the use of water electrolysis and renewable energies such as photovoltaics (PVs) is a clean and promising energy option on a global scale. Morocco is no exception and boasts an extensive renewable production network that could position it as a real leader and major player in green hydrogen in Africa. The chapter concludes with a case study highlighting the advantages of storing surplus PV electricity in the form of hydrogen produced by electrolysis, with reduced energy costs and a minimal carbon footprint.
