As we find ourselves in the twenty-fifth year of this century, already numerous political, social, environmental, and economic changes have occurred—brought about by domestic policyPolicy choices, a global pandemic, catastrophic climate changeClimate change, and global economic and political shocks. In this short period, GuyanaGuyana witnessed the Great Flood of 2005, recurring floods, a minority government in 2011, a vote of no confidence in 2018, and major political discontent, among other things. The margin by which political parties are winning elections has narrowed substantially since 2011.
