A clone is a group of plants derived from a single plant through vegetative asexual propagation. By nature, all vegetatively propagated crops are highly heterozygous and plants belonging to a single clone are homogeneous. Most asexually propagated crops have reduced flowering with low seed production while some of them like bananas, yams and sisal do not produce seeds at all due to autopolyploidy causing sterility.

Most asexually propagated crops have reduced flowering with low seed production while some of them like bananas, yams and sisal do not produce seeds at all due to autopolyploidy causing sterility.
