2024 marks the tenth anniversary of the United Nations’ call to use the data revolution for sustainable development. Digital platforms are at the center of this revolution, producing transactional data on the behavior of users, donors, and volunteers for nonprofit supply chains such as the ones supporting humanitarian efforts. We identify opportunities and propose a framework to research humanitarian supply chain management using digital platform data. First, we describe four digital platforms supporting humanitarian supply chain activities: donations, procurement, and distribution. We identify several challenges these platforms face in practice and discuss representative research dealing with those challenges. In doing so, we identify opportunities for future research. Then, we introduce a research framework that uses multi-methods to increase the power of digital platform data for relevant and rigorous contributions to the academic literature and practice. We also discuss the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the near future regarding practice and research on digital platforms and humanitarian supply chain management.

摘要
