Imperial China

摘要

The Chinese emperor was considered the owner of a mandate from the heavens, and this characterizes all the history of Chinese imperial architecture, together with another traditional doctrine connected to nature, the Feng Shui. These concepts are explored with the help of key examples, which include the tomb of the first emperor with his famous terracotta army, the pyramids of Xian, the Valley of the 13 Ming imperial tombs, and the Forbidden city.
