Epidemiology and Causes of Diastasis Recti

The appearance of diastasis recti is influenced both by factors that influence the interrectal distance, such as gender or previous pregnancies, and by actual risk factors, such as age, cesarean sections, or obesity. An important role seems to be played by the altered collagen synthesis that is commonly found in these patients.
