Starting a New HAI Program: Building a Team
摘要
Hepatic arterial infusion pump (HAIP) chemotherapy represents a highly specialized therapy for the treatment of intrahepatic malignancy, but implementing a new HAIP program is a process that has inherent challenges. From multidisciplinary physician leaders to support staff at all levels, facilitating a collaborative approach is fundamental to the success of a new HAIP program. Team member experience is another crucial element for a safe and effective rollout, with site visits to existing programs being a viable option to develop relevant experience for team leaders. Ultimately, a shared workflow through a multidisciplinary team-based approach incorporating physician and staff expertise will be most important in the development and implementation of a budding HAIP program. With a culture of open communication and shared investment of time and effort, developing a new HAIP program may be increasingly feasible.
