How to Do ‘Southern Criminology’
摘要
This chapter reflects on the pragmatic steps that need to be embraced if those who study and write about crime and justice issues wish to avoid reproducing the inequalities in knowledge production, that marginalise theories and research from the periphery. It argues for a ‘Southern praxis’ in criminology to implement a decolonial perspective in criminology in our everyday work, which is based on five components: 1. Geopolitics; 2. Reassessment; 3. Innovation; 4. Expansion and 5. Positionality (GRIEP). It concludes by outlining what a southern praxis in teaching, research, publication and events might look like.
