This chapter analyses the political transformation of Narcos and its effects on peacebuilding. Using Colombia’s case, we will show how Narco has abandoned its place as a self-interested and unjustifiable criminal. Instead, the Narco is now conceived as a hybrid subject seen both as a horrendous criminal and as a product of social exclusion with a political agenda. Such hybridisation of the Narco has allowed a new way of perceiving the conflict with drug trafficking organisations, going from a matter of blatant opposition to the state’s legality to a socio-political problem. Conceiving drug trafficking as a socio-political problem opens a debate on how to deal with the Narco and whether a transition to peace with drug trafficking organisations is possible.
