Climate Change and Human Imprint Consequences
摘要
Climate change is a long-term change in the average weather patterns that define Earth’s local, regional, and global climates. These changes may occur naturally, such as changes in the solar cycle, or due to human activities. By mid-2024, the world population has reached 8.2 billion and is still growing. This rapid population growth raises concerns about whether the Earth’s natural resources can meet everyone’s needs. The growing population requires a greater supply of services and products, which in turn exerts strain on natural resources and contributes to the escalation in the use of energy derived from fossil fuels, leading to higher emissions of greenhouse gases. Accordingly, this chapter aims to assess climate change as a consequence of the increasing global human footprint and predict the impacts of climate change due to the growing human population. As changes in the global human imprint and growth, climate change causes the following points:1) Increase in global temperature; 2)Decrease in the availability of natural resources to suffices the global human population; 2) Loss of freshwater resources; 3) Intensive farming practice; and 4) Loss of economic growth, development and loss of sustainability.
