Selection Criteria in the Party Leadership Elections of ND (2009–2016)

It describes the political background of the multi-candidate open primaries for the leadership post that were organized by ND in 2009 and 2015–16. It examines the electoral context with a focus on the candidates’ campaign strategies. Moreover, it analyses in depth the voting behaviour of party selectors against the three ordered selection criteria of the Stark model using polling data as well as qualitative insights from interviews with candidates, their closest aides and senior party officials.
