Corporate Performance and Strategies for Resilience and Growth of Theme Parks
摘要
Theme parks have become a fundamental component of the tourism industry, generating significant revenue for local and national economies. However, their economic sustainability has been questioned, particularly considering recent events such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to analyse the financial performance of thematic parks from 2013 to 2020 and identify sustainable strategies for their long-term success. The analysis is based on key financial ratios, including liquidity, return on equity, solvability, turnover, employment, labour productivity, and market share. The findings reveal fluctuations and challenges in various financial indicators for both European and American theme parks. While some indicators display stability, others exhibit fluctuations without clear trends. This underscores the need for comprehensive financial analysis and consideration of non-financial factors to assess the overall competitiveness and resilience of these parks. Based on the analysis, several policies implications emerge for tourism management. These include enhancing financial resilience through effective financial management, promoting sustainable growth by considering market dynamics and sustainability principles, improving operational efficiency and labour productivity, conducting comparative analysis and benchmarking, investing in market research and consumer insights, and implementing sustainable tourism policies. Future research should further explore these areas to provide more comprehensive insights and recommendations for effective tourism management in the theme park industry. By adopting these strategies and addressing challenges, theme parks can contribute to the economic growth and development of their respective locations while ensuring long-term viability and sustainability.
