Indigenous Knowledge in Tourism Development from a Community Perspective: A Case Study of the Khmer Ethnic People Minority in an Giang Province, Vietnam
摘要
The growth of Community-Based Tourism (CBT) is based on the exploitation of community values, with Indigenous Knowledge (IK) being an especially appealing value for tourists. While IK is growing more popular as a significant tourism resource, it needs more study attention. Based on this, the research aims to discover IK linked with the Khmer ethnic minority in An Giang Province, Vietnam. In this study, 120 Khmer households were surveyed using qualitative and quantitative research methods. The findings reveal that, while IK values are diverse and valuable, the lack of a qualified workforce and community ability create substantial barriers to their use.
