This study investigated the nexus between the EndSARS protest of the October 2020 and the worrisome insecurity that increased exponentially in the Southwestern Nigeria after the protest. This was embarked upon to establish and provide information on the conjecture that the EndSARS was responsible for significant increase in insecurity challenges. The thesis of this study was anchored on the collective behaviour theory to explain the impact which collective decision/action can have on the security of the state. The study adopted a mixed-methods research design which involved a combination of secondary quantitative and primary qualitative data. The study argues that the EndSARS protest affected the morale and capacity of the security enforcement officers who were the major targets of the protest that lasted for two weeks across the states of the federation. It compares the insecurity data before and after the protest/post COVID-19 lockdown. The study concludes that the spate of insecurity became pronounced in the region after the nationwide protest as insecurity escalated and policing crippled. The study therefore recommends the decentralization of the Nigerian Police and enhancement of morale of the officers.
