Sleep, a fundamental physiological process, intricately links with various facets of health, extending beyond mere rest and rejuvenation. This chapter deals with the intricate interplay among sleep, circadian rhythm, and peripheral inflammation, investigating deep into their complex interactions. Extensive research underlines sleep’s pivotal role in regulating immune function and maintaining bodily equilibrium, with disruptions correlating to shifts in inflammatory markers and susceptibility to inflammatory diseases. Unraveling this intricate network necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the molecular mechanisms governing the processes, with cytokines, chemokines, and immune cells emerging as key players. Recent technological advancements shed light on the molecular underpinnings of sleep-induced immune modulation. Interruptions in sleep processes have been implicated in disturbing immune responses, thereby contributing to the development of inflammatory disorders. This chapter employs an interdisciplinary approach to dissect how sleep influences immune signaling and reciprocally, exploring its implications for chronic inflammatory conditions and potential therapeutic avenues.
