The Role of Sustainability in Providing a Small Living Space
摘要
Micro-homes serve as alternative housing solutions for various purposes, offering a reduced environmental impact in terms of construction materials and energy consumption. These compact dwellings, owing to their small size, often inspire innovative design solutions. The primary objective was to design and manufacture a mobile micro-home that stands out from container-style housing, ensuring sustainability and universality. Focused on accommodating two individuals and addressing their needs in diverse climate conditions, we conceived the distinctive spheroid shape of the micro-home called the Ecocapsule. This design optimally captures rainwater and minimizes energy loss. Overcoming the challenge of integrating HVAC, water, electricity, and energy systems within limited space, the Ecocapsule operates on a dual energy production system, coupled with high-capacity batteries, ensuring energetic self-sufficiency. Its off-grid functionality spans a wide range of climate conditions, from −5 ℃ to + 40 ℃. Water filters guarantee cleanliness from any natural source, while hollow walls filled with highly efficient thermal insulation protect harsh environments, achieving performance levels akin to a passive house. The Ecocapsule empowers individuals to live completely off-grid, offering a harmonious blend of environmental respect and the comfort reminiscent of a hotel room.
