摘要
Large residential neighborhoods built in the 1970s and 1980s suffered significant deterioration. This issue affects the neighborhoods and extends to the surrounding residential environment, consequently impacting the entire area and the quality of life within it. This has led to a significant decrease in their economic value in the market. The research problem is defined as the lack of clarity regarding indicators of aging in residential neighborhoods and the methods to address them. The research aims to identify indicators of deteriorating residential neighborhoods and the most important methods to address them by analyzing these spaces’ challenges. Furthermore, it aims to explore how improvement can be achieved through adopting urban renewal strategies that enhance environmental and social sustainability. The research concludes the significant role of urban renewal as a therapeutic approach to revitalizing the external spaces of deteriorating residential environments. It provides numerous opportunities to create a healthy, socially, economically, and culturally sustainable living environment.
