Investment treaties, arbitration, and political risk insurance are interconnected components of a system designed to safeguard foreign investments. These seemingly disparate legal tools share the common objective of either preventing losses arising from host state actions or omissions or providing compensation for losses incurred by foreign investors. This chapter explores the nexus among investment treaties, arbitration, and political risk insurance.
