摘要

This text examines the evolution of fishing tourism in Galicia, considering its historical potential in the maritime sector. This connection has been analysed from a historical, cultural, and economic perspective. Similarly, the tourism sector in Galicia is closely related to the coastal areas and, especially, to the sea and its products, both from a socioeconomic standpoint and from the perspective of the prevailing tourist imagination. In this context, it becomes particularly relevant to analyse the evolution of this type of economic activity and its past and current governance structure as a replicable example. Governance from the bottom up is highlighted in this process as a differentiating element, with grassroots entities and social and producer organizations acting as key players in the process. Within this process, we examine the differentiating factor of this activity in Galicia, which is particularly linked to the role of women. For this reason, we conduct a quantitative and qualitative analysis that demonstrates the connection between the role of women and the imagery of this tourism activity.
