摘要

The development of urbanization has increasingly underscored the importance of small towns in linking urban and rural areas and in maintaining food security. Appropriate urban planning, targeting at these cities, can assist in protecting food and environmental resources, thereby contributing to sustainable development. However, the neglect of food systems and the lack of urban planning have led to stagnation in the development of many small towns. This paper uses Dahuangpu Town, a small town in China, as a case study to illustrate how, through spatial planning, the integration of the food system into urban planning can be achieved, and hence facilitate the transformation of economic resources and the protection of the ecological environment. This paper also hopes to provide experience for other ecologically sensitive towns with rich agricultural resources.
