摘要

This chapter explores the implementation of an holistic case management advising model at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and emerging HSIs (eHSIs) to enhance student success. It emphasizes a transformative advising framework that addresses the multifaceted challenges faced by Latine students and other historically under-recognized populations. The chapter reviews existing literature supporting this advising redesign and its commitment to a social justice framework. It discusses the socio-economic and personal barriers Latine students face, such as language barriers and a lack of cultural representation, and how HSIs and eHSIs can create supportive, culturally responsive environments. The chapter also outlines the components of holistic case management advising, including integrated support services, personalized advising plans, proactive outreach, and the use of advising technology platforms. It argues that this model can better support Latine students by providing comprehensive, individualized, and culturally competent advising. Recommendations for institutional leadership include maintaining reasonable advisor caseloads, using data to inform practices, and building consensus among stakeholders. The chapter advocates for a re-imagined advising approach that fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion to support all students’ academic and personal success.
