Against International Dictatorship: A Modest Utopia

  • Tommaso Visone

摘要

This chapter aims to present Camus’ idea of a modest and relative utopia, as debated in the 1946 series “Neither Victims nor Executioners”. Such a utopia would enable people who reject the logic of murder and violence to revolt against their historical condition, marked by the threat of atomic war. To this end, the French-Algerian writer emphasised the importance of fighting for a new democratic world order that would reverse the international dictatorship inherent in the interdependent world of the twentieth century.
