An Act of Modesty: Care in the Plague

This chapter discusses the role of care in “The Plague” (1947) as a metaphor for Revolt and an act of modesty. Indeed, “The Plague” clearly depicts a world in which no one possesses an absolute and final answer or result. More precisely, the protagonists’ actions are modest, dependent on the existence of others, and aware of the limits inherent in the same revolt: a measure/tension that, while continually created and recreated, could not last forever.
