摘要

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face an increasingly complex, dynamic world and a new global business environment. This creates a challenge, transforming some of the opportunities. For SMEs, Industrial 5.0 (heightened human–machine collaboration and high-versatility robots in the manufacturing sector) and Society 5.0 (a future promoting a human-driven revolution based on technology matching), seem to suggest a need to prepare for an inevitable change. This chapter offers a comprehensive overview of this dynamic environment. This chapter studies the academia-industry–government–civil society–environment nexus based on the Quintuple Helix Framework. This framework ties along AI modalities and creates the bedrock of the future SMEs ecosystem. This ecosystem must be economically feasible for enterprises and rapidly adaptable to changes. SMEs should have strategic stability, making them economically remunerative, resilient, and robust (R3) in the future. Beyond mere observation, the chapter proposes a roadmap with practical recommendations for industry leaders, policymakers and researchers. Ultimately, the chapter aims to provide all stakeholders a forward-looking and entrepreneurially-minded knowledge and a roadmap through the complicated and rapidly evolving global entrepreneurial ecosystem of the twenty-first century.
