摘要
This chapter briefly juxtaposes the four accounts presented in the work as a whole: the Evolutionary, Beauvoirean, Butlerian, and Thomistic. It seeks to show how the differences in the accounts must be seen in light of the more fundamental philosophical allegiances from which they arise; for it is only in tracking these four streams of thought back to the points at which they diverge that some mode of mutual understanding and univocal communication between them can be achieved. From this perspective of unearthing foundational principles, the chapter offers an initial, cursory attempt at assessing the explanatory power of each account.
