摘要

This chapter outlines some of the key issues for police officers and other practitioners who work with children who have experienced sexual abuse and exploitation (CSA/E). We discuss important points for police officers to consider, including definitions and models of child sexual exploitation; understanding the process of becoming a victim; professional curiosity, victim blaming and understanding under-reporting and other non-compliance. In relation to policing practice, we discuss effective police responses and disruption techniques to safeguard children during lengthy investigations, but also in the event that prosecutions are unlikely. We also include key actions for practice, useful resources, and references.
