This research, through a systematic literature review, aims to spark a debate on neo-ruralism: a novel approach to housing that combines renewable energy use, organic agriculture, and passive architectural principles. By delineating clear guidelines for the review phases and critically evaluating documents and case studies, the study endeavours to offer a comprehensive overview of standout examples, thereby understanding the current state of the art. It discusses results in each domain, underscores advantages, and identifies gaps. This approach aims to enrich the literature review and open up new research avenues that furnish the essential tools for deciphering the neo-rural phenomenon.
