Motorcycles at Signalized Intersections: Unraveling the Impact on Start-Up Loss Time and Traffic Dynamics
摘要
This comprehensive study provides an in-depth exploration of the intricate dynamics governing signalized intersections, specifically focusing on the consequential impact of motorcycles on start-up loss time and overall traffic flow. Our meticulously chosen intersection serves as a well-defined research setting, where we employ a robust methodology encompassing real-time video data collection, meticulous vehicle categorization, and rigorous quantitative analysis. For data analysis, we employ state-of-the-art technologies, utilizing YOLO-v8 and deepSort algorithms to accurately count the vehicles passing during the green phase. Through this meticulous approach, we seek to discern meaningful correlations between the presence and spatial positioning of motorcycles and the resultant start-up loss time, particularly for other vehicles, notably cars. Our research navigates the intricate terrain of spatial and temporal evaluations to uncover nuanced insights into the multifaceted ways motorcycles influence traffic behavior within the intersection. This includes examining the intricate interplay of various vehicle types and conducting robust analyses to comprehensively capture the complexity of traffic dynamics.
