Electronic Monitoring Systems in Fisheries Worldwide
摘要
Electronic Monitoring Systems (EMS) are one of the main strategies used by governments and independent fisheries to combat Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. Although still in its infancy, it has proven to have substantial potential. We did a systematic literature review of EMS in fisheries to go over the research published in this field and provide guiding elements to fisheries considering or willing to implement EMS. The goal is to understand the application conditions and the best techniques and practices used in EMSs. We searched three databases for the topic of EMS. We were able to collect important information about the equipment and technology used, the main challenges and the best practices for implementing an EMS program.
