Synergizing Lean Tools with Industry 4.0: A Path to Smart Manufacturing

摘要

This research critically examines how Lean methodologies and Industry 4.0 technologies intersect and influence each other exploring the synergies, between them. The study is based on a review of existing literature focusing on the interdependence between lean tools and Industry 4.0 technologies. Two main perspectives emerge from this analysis emphasizing the role of Lean for Industry 4.0 and vice versa with a shared objective of improving flexibility and productivity. However there is still a gap in understanding the implications of Industry 4.0 technologies on lean tools. The study explores proposed combinations, including relationships presented in the TPS house model and draws insights from a Delphi study. The results highlight implementation approaches. Offer a nuanced understanding of possible correlations between different elements. When examining how Lean tools transform after implementing Industry 4.0 technologies we find an innovative coexistence that challenges the idea of obsolescence. The integration of lean principles with advanced technologies introduces new solutions reaffirming the ongoing relevance of Lean methodologies. In conclusion successful integration requires more than recognizing the interconnectedness; it necessitates an exploration into specific impacts, benefits and sequential steps involved. Organizations seeking to harness the potential of Lean and Industry 4.0 need to navigate through combinations and leverage nuanced perspectives, for effective implementation.
