SDN/NFV Enhancement of RPL Protocol in LLNs Networks
摘要
Among the IoT family, low-power and lossy networks have limited characteristics in terms of storage, processing, battery life, and other resources. Nevertheless, the Internet of Things is crucial to turning the entire planet into a single Internet-connected city. LLNs require a reasonably flexible architecture that can adapt to the network’s restricted limits. RPL is the protocol for LLN networks, facilitating multi-hop transfer to increase network lifetime. However, this protocol becomes ineffective in dynamic contexts where topology changes frequently. In this work, we will outline all the features provided by SDN and NFV. These two technologies are well-known in the research community for their capacity to increase network dynamics and optimization. These technologies can also satisfy the needs of IoT, particularly for LLN networks.
