Development of a Quality Management Framework for Company Equipment Utilising Industry 4.0

Company Equipment is a manufacturer of heavy industrial earth moving vehicles and equipment with an approach to quality and quality management rooted in aged technologies and processes. With the recent and currently evolving developments of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, this research project aimed to investigate these developments to understand the applications of the new technologies and focuses and how they impact the modern approach to quality and quality management. A literature review was designed and conducted to analyse and gain knowledge on Industry 4.0, Quality 4.0 and quality management. An investigation and analysis into the workings of the quality management approach at Company Equipment was conducted. A conceptual quality management framework based on Industry 4.0 was developed and evaluated in terms of Company Equipment. Results of the evaluation indicated the net gain of benefits for the utilization of the proposed quality management framework for Company Equipment.
