Tourism puts major pressure on the environment, as it increases the need for energy, food, and water. It also contributes to the creation of waste that pollutes nature and harms biodiversity. Tourism, through travel and above all transport, contributes to 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, the idea of sustainable tourism is beginning to take shape, with the dual goals of fostering respect for the economic and cultural interests of the local population and minimizing the negative environmental effects of tourism. The main aim of this paper is to examine the real impact of implementing an intelligent tourism strategy on the sustainability of tourist destinations. To meet this need, we first highlighted certain key concepts, namely intelligent tourism, sustainable tourism, and the relationship between the two concepts. A quantitative methodology was used to illustrate the effects of adopting an intelligent tourism strategy on all aspects of the sustainability of tourist destinations. Initial results indicate that there is an alignment between intelligent tourism and sustainability, particularly in the environmental pillar.
