Greater San Luis

San Luis is the capital of San Luis province. Its prominence has traditionally been associated with its history and political role. The public buildings that are distributed in its urban landscape are eloquent example of its function, which, in addition, has been complemented by significant commercial activity. Since the 1980s, within the framework of industrial promotion, there has been an important location of industries. This has given way to a remarkable growth that has brought along serious planning problems, due to the rapid pace at which the population has increased. According to the data analyzed, this city presents a highly favorable scenario with respect to all the cities of the Argentina, since it shows a low rate of population with incomplete primary education, high rate of population with complete university education, medium-low rate of population without health insurance, medium-low rate of housing without toilets, and overcrowding. Together with the positive environmental indicators (NRR, RSC, and EP), this resulted in an outstanding quality of life score of 7.37, placing it in quartile 1.
