Luján

The city of Luján is located in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, 67 km northwest of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, capital city of the Argentine Republic. It is close to the third semicircle (called ring) that makes up the Greater Buenos Aires. Currently, urban expansion is moving toward the east, eventually joining Luján to Greater Buenos Aires whose west is significantly extending. From a physical-natural viewpoint, Luján is located in the Undulating Humid Pampa, being the main population center of the middle sector of the Luján River basin. The river course crosses it bordering its historical-basilical zone (traditional center), which represents an outstanding architectural complex of significant historical value. In order to link the spatial distributions of the variables analyzed, we may conclude that Luján has undergone some changes from the colonial city to the sectorial city through an urban structure based on rings and presence of incipient sectors. Favorable socio-spatial conditions of quality of life decrease in all cases from the center to the periphery of the city.
