The eighth chapter explores some of the devices which humorists use to focus, specify, and sustain our awareness of the truth and value of which humor is a grasp. These include rhetorical and poetic devices, as well as devices that draw on the broader context of relevant meaning. This discussion also gives further confirmation that humor does in fact achieve awareness of truth and value, and specifically of truth and value of this fundamental kind.
