摘要
Chapter 13 argues that Jane Austen’s humor is unusual in that it fully exercises all the elements of the logical structure that characterizes humor. As a result, her humor brings out in an unusually comprehensive and complete way the insights into truth and value which humor allows. Her humor shimmers with the elusive subtlety which, as the early chapters explain, is nonetheless also the solid reliability of sense deeply grasped.
