Health Analytics and Precision Medicine

This chapter provides a high-level overview of the field of health analytics. We first start with a brief introduction to the field and the terminology used in the health analytics domain. We then cover the four major types of data used in health analytics, namely: genetics data, clinical data, environmental data, and socioeconomic data and social determinants of health (SDOH). We cover how each of these aspects of a person contributes to their overall health and how this fulfills the vision of precision medicine. Health Analytics is the data science field that covers how to study health data such as to enable precision medicine.
