Spectral theory

The previous bounds were obtained by combining algebraic manipulations, complex analysis and inner product norms. As will be seen in Chap. 19, some bounds even extend to Möbius transformations of nonlinear maps. The circle and half-plane conditions are linked to the notion of von Neumann spectral sets, which play an essential role in the von Neumann spectral theory in Hilbert space.
