摘要

Biocomposites, which are materials composed of natural polymers and bioactive components, offer significant advantages in medical treatments due to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, and potential for functionalization. This chapter delves into different natural fibers, their classification, properties, benefits as well as drawbacks. Different characterization parameters for biocomposites, types and applications have also been elaborated. The applications of these biocomposites in health treatment are broad and impactful. The chapter discusses classification and properties are described in detail with special focus on their manufacturing methods. Specific examples include the incorporation of natural polymers like chitosan, alginate, and collagen with nanoparticles and bioactive molecules to enhance therapeutic efficacy. Additionally, the text evaluates the performance of these biocomposites in clinical settings, providing insights into their advantages over traditional materials. By synthesizing recent research findings and case studies, this chapter includes a comprehensive overview of the potential of biocomposites to revolutionize health treatment, emphasizing their role in advancing personalized and regenerative medicine. This chapter presents the latest research on biocomposites, with an emphasis on natural fiberNatural fibers sources other than animal-based fibers and matrices (such as hair, silk, wool, etc.). Recent research on biocomposites, biomaterials used to create biocomposites, and fabrication and processing methods are all included in this chapter. The use of biocomposites including recent instances, present difficulties, and potential future applications are covered in the section that follows the characterization section.
