摘要

Emerging contaminants (ECs) refer to compounds that have recently been discovered to exist in the environment and have been identified as potential environmental hazards. Emerging contaminants (ECs) refer to compounds recently found to be widespread and potentially detrimental to the environment or public health. However, due to limited evidence, a comprehensive assessment of their risk needs to be improved. Therefore, it is vital to comprehend the makeup of emerging concern contaminants (CECs) in landfills. The landfill gas comprises a variety of harmful gases and compounds that contribute to global warming. On the other hand, leachate contains ECs, which pose a severe threat to the environment and public health. This chapter aims to put more emphasis on the emerging environmental contaminants from landfills to enlighten the issues and risks associated with them. This chapter discussed the origin, disposition, and movement of emerging pollutants in landfills, particularly in landfill leachate and surrounding habitats. Also, the threats that these compounds pose to the environment or human health were discussed in this chapter.
