Trichoscopy

Trichoscopy is a non-invasive technique utilizing a dermatoscope or a videodermatoscope that enhances visualization of hair shaft and scalp pathology that is difficult to discern with the naked eye. This method can enhance our diagnosis of hair pathologies such as cicatricial or non-cicatricial alopecia and hair shaft disorders and monitoring of those conditions at follow-up visits. This chapter provides a brief overview of common trichoscopy patterns associated with hair disorders frequently encountered in dermatology practices.
