Conservation Techniques in Agriculture Under Climate Change

Soils, which are the main factor in crop and animal production, are a living and heterogeneous natural resource and face many negative impacts during conventional agricultural activities. This chapter presents an analysis of the results of research on the tillage system. When conducting research, our main goal was to study the negative impact on the soil during the use of agricultural aggregates, as well as the impact of resource-saving technologies on increasing soil fertility and naturally increasing both the productivity of agricultural machines and increasing yields. Conservation agriculture (CA) is a new resource management system compared with the traditional form, biological activity and physical structure are preserved. The CA also provides for the use of resource-saving technologies and organic seed material, as a result of which productivity and yield increase, as well as the number of passes through the field and environmental pollution decrease. In this chapter, the main topics such as soil vitality, minimum and/or zero tillage, weed control, cultivation techniques and economic rationale, which constitute the main function of conservation agriculture, are covered.
